Refreshing

Hey, and welcome back to Mahalia’s Inspirations: Faith, Empower, and Overcome Blog.

Today, I wanted to talk about the word refreshing.

Have you ever looked at a flower that’s dehydrated, and then when it rains, you see the life come back to that flower? The flower has been refreshed or rejuvenated.

We are in the month of March, and this is such an exciting and vibrant time of the year. We are entering into the season of spring. After a few months of cold, we see the snow melt away, the grass, flowers, and trees come back to life, and the temperature gets warmer. This is also the time when Christians all over the world are embarking on the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It’s a time of refreshing.

Maybe, like the flower, you need a little refreshing. Maybe you’ve been feeling cooped up after months of cold, or a little dehydrated and in need of water to revive you. I want to encourage you that only in Jesus Christ can you truly be renewed and refreshed.

The word refreshed means to “restore strength and animation, or revive and freshen up,” according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

Sometimes life be lifing, and we go through things that drain us and beat us down. But when we go to God, He can give us another dose of strength to keep going.

This reminds me of the story of the woman at the well in the Bible, found in John 4:5–42. Jesus had been traveling for a long time and was thirsty, so He sat by a well. While He was there, a woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus asked her, “Give me a drink.”

She said to Him, “Why should I give you a drink? You shouldn’t even be talking to me. You’re a Jew and I’m a Samaritan.” Back then, Jews and Samaritans didn’t associate with one another.

But Jesus said to her, “If you knew the gift of God and who you were talking to, you would have asked Me for a drink, and I would have given you living water.”

As they continued talking, Jesus revealed that He is the living water, and that anyone who drinks of the water He gives will never thirst again.

To me, that sounds like refreshing, being revived, and being restored.

When we are in desperate need of quenching, restoration, and revival, Jesus is the living water that refreshes us. In Him, we are in a constant state of being alive—the feeling of life.

When you are drained and in need of water, like the flower, you are shriveled. You move slower, you have low energy, and it just doesn’t feel good. But the moment you get a nice, cold glass of spring water, you feel satisfied and refreshed. Sometimes it even makes you say, “Ahhh.”

Being refreshed is life, and you can be refreshed today.

All you have to do is say, “Jesus, I want to be refreshed. Can you refresh me?” If you have not accepted Him into your life as your Lord and Savior, all you have to say is, “Jesus, I believe in You. Come into my heart. Save me. I want to be renewed.”

I pray that as we enter the season of spring and reflect on the amazing act that Jesus did for us, we are reminded that, like the woman at the well, we can have that living water continuously in our lives and enjoy the refreshing.

I hope you enjoyed this blog. Share, follow, and tell a friend.

Until next time, may God keep you and bless you. Amen.

Love,

Mahalia 💛💛
