The Art of Your Emotions

Emotions, emotions, emotions... 😁

Hey guys, it's Mahalia here... and we're going to get down and dirty with our emotions!! lol.

So where do emotions come from?

Emotions are part of the brain system called the amygdala.  Without getting too scientific, the amygdala is responsible for controlling our emotions, when to respond to fear, when to be excited and happy and so much more. Have you ever heard a song that just made you feel so good? Or explained exactly what you were feeling into a song? This is because the emotions and thoughts are connecting with that song.

Are emotions good or bad?

It seems like whenever people say the word "emotions" they think of negative aspects; the crazy, angry, outbursts, and isolation part. But emotions are so much more than that. Great philosophers like Aristotle, Nietzche argued that emotions are intellectual and wise, that they can be rationalized and can lead us to our purpose in life and help us better understand ourselves.

Should boys be told that men don't cry?

Emotions are a good thing,  it's okay to feel sad and angry, hurt, and disappointed.  It's completely normal to feel these intense emotions. It would be more worrisome if people didn't feel emotions. That awful phrase is a harsh stigma that is being passed on from generation to generation and it needs to STOP NOW! We are teaching our young men not to feel sympathetic for others or for their own regard. In fact, if we could communicate and actually talk about emotions, we as a human race wouldn't keep things bottle up inside.

Feeling Emotions

Because Mahalia's Inspirations is all about positive vibes and empowerment, I encourage you all to get in your emotions.. good or bad. Don't be afraid to feel, it's what makes us human, it's an essential part of life.. to connect with others on an emotional level. If you are tired and worn out... great! I'm glad you can label your emotion.. but don't stay in that crappy mood but put yourself in an enlightened positive mood. So down below I have an upbeat funky song called Be Nice by the Black-Eye-Peas. I hope you enjoy it.
