3 Things I wish I knew before Commitment

When you think of the word commitment what comes to mind? Many people are afraid of this word, it means serious business you know.

Before making the decision to commit to anything you have to ask yourself "how bad do I want this".  To be committed to anything whether it's joining a hobby, or relationship, the job you have to be willing to do it and then take action.

1. Decide why I am doing this.

2. Do I have the capabilities and strength to do it?

3. Take action and commit.

Once you have decided to do something you have to ask yourself why am I doing this, many times when we do things it's based on emotions and we can commit ourselves to something we may not want to do in 3 months from now. So you have to ask yourself if you are committing for the right reasons; does this make you happy, is this going to benefit you down the road. Once you answer those questions you can move into step 2.

Am I capable of doing this? This process is important. This is going to give you the confidence for step 3. You have to reevaluate yourself and ask "can I manage the project, the gift, I am about to take on? Can I work long hours to reach my goals? Can I handle the pressure of whatever comes with this?" This is the truth of your confidence and willpower which will either help you with step 3 or chicken you out.

Action time step 3 is doing it! Now that you have contemplated and asked yourself all these questions, you've made the decision to apply to that job, start that hobby, try that relationship, buy that house, start that rehab, or learn to lay back. Now you have to pour your whole heart into this project and COMMIT. Committing is your marriage to whatever you value to be important because if this really means the world to you, no matter how difficult it gets or how tired you get, commitment and other factors are what is going to keep you going.

When I started Mahalia's Inspirations about two years ago on Instagram, I had no idea what to do, nor did I know anything about being a blogger, and the type of content, how to organize, color arrangement/choices, topics, marketing and etc. All I knew is I had a dream, a goal and I wanted to share my story while encouraging and furthering the potential of others around the world. Before doing this I wished I knew how hard, following your dreams or anything you want to do is going to be. I wish I knew that deciding to do it was just a piece of the masterpiece, but while your painting your art it's the best feeling in the world.

So whatever this new chapter has in store for you I pray that you are committed to better, committed to bringing about happiness and change in your life. Come back next week at Mahalia Inspirations.
