Strap your seatbelts in, because it's about to get real!!!
For those who struggle with letting go of control, this is for you. Have you ever seen a big child still on a pacifier? “And you ask yourself why they are still on a pacifier they are way too big for it”? It’s time for the child to be weaned off of it, because they are no longer a baby or toddler but a big kid now and they have surpassed that stage of life. At first, it's hard for that child to let go of that pacifier because it's bringing comfort, it's all they know. I'm using this analogy of a big kid still on a pacifier to a person who allows control to run their life. And believes they are their own God. They follow their own will and plans more than surrendering to God. Control although it's toxic and it's hurting you, it's all you know, it brings you comfort, it provides safety from getting hurt even though it's messing up your teeth and you look ridiculous. It's time to be weaned off.
When we are called to trust God it's hard, it's scary, and takes a lot of courage to let go of that control. It takes faith and trust that God is good for you and can bring you through. For me, I struggle with letting go of control and needing to know every detail and I don't like surprises because I need to know what is going on.
I knew I struggled with control I acknowledged but didn't really deal with it. It was time for me to kick control out the door. You have to say I trust you lord with my plan, I trust you, lord, that you bring me to the other side, I trust you even though it hurts, I trust that you will work it all out for my good. It's not easy in the moment when fear is saying no turn around, it's not easy when your mind is playing tricks on you. But you have to be certain that God will never fail you, God doesn't always tell us everything it's his job to know everything. We are to trust him no matter what season in life we are in. That was hard for me. Many times I had to say and still do, Lord I trust you in this moment.
For me, I had to kick out a few things out of my life and allow God to take his place in me. And once I surrendered to God and stopped trying to be God of my own life. I found out that God’s plan for my life is way better than I could have ever done on my own.
What do you need to kick out of your life? What is keeping you from growing in God and overcoming this obstacle? What do you need to surrender to God? Take some time to reflect on the questions above and then go pray about it with God.
Here is a song that really helps bring the message together and is one of my favorites. The song is called White Flags. I hope you enjoy it and u til next time may God be with you and bless you. I pray that you will allow God to have his way in your life. In Jesus' name Amen. https://youtu.be/T1BIKArvsko?si=6D1tTsOGeITl5u7x
